The Breakfast Optimist Club of Kalamazoo (BOCK) is seeking candidates for the annual Optimist International Essay Contest. This year’s topic is: “Lead by Example: Reality or Fiction.” Students who are under the age of 18, who have not yet graduated from high school or the equivalent, are eligible to participate. The contest is designed to give young people valuable experience in expressing their thoughts in a public forum and compete for local and state prizes. At the local level (BOCK) the prize for first place is $200. At the District level the prize for first place is a $2,500 scholarship.

Essays, hard copy only, are to be submitted to me, at the address below, no later than 5:00 pm Thursday, January 28, 2016. Essays will be judged at the local level and then sent on to the District Essay Chair by February ?.?, 2016.
